Who loves fresh veggies as much as we do? Growing vegetables can be a lot of fun, and you can do so in your own home, even if you have little space or no outdoor space at all.
No soil is needed to make a kitchen scrap garden. You just take your kitchen scraps, put them in water and then you’ve got your own little garden. However, keep in mind this does not work for all kitchen scraps. Most celery, lettuces, carrots, radishes and avocado seeds tend to work best.
Once you stick the scraps in water, you will eventually see roots come out. You’ll then see sprouts and eventually some flowering.
Kitchen scrap gardens are fun to watch grow. When you’re done growing your vegetables, you can harvest your own produce that you made from your kitchen scraps. Our very own President Melissa Rohan made her own kitchen scraps during the pandemic. You can see more about that here.
