Dual immersion (Spanish and English) faith-based Montessori school Waterfront Academy is celebrating their first student to graduate to high school and receive four sacraments in the Catholic Church.
The diverse, small school of 40 students was a community Kai Paul, called home for years. Waterfront Academy is the only school in the U.S. that offers Spanish immersion, Catholic and Montessori.
Kai was accepted to all four schools she applied to and ultimately chose Elizabeth Seton High School in Bladensburg, MD. She will be in the school’s honors and AP track. She was in the top percentile in the Catholic High School Placement exam and will be in the school’s honors and AP track.
“I am grateful for my experience here at Waterfront Academy,” Paul said. “There are a lot of things that may not have happened had I not come to this school—for example, it would have been harder to prepare to be a great candidate to all the Catholic high schools I applied to—I was accepted to all of them.”
Kai also received her sacraments—Baptism, Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation—at the Easter Vigil at her home church, Mt. Calvary Catholic Church in Forestville, MD. Waterfront Academy President Melissa Rohan was both Kai’s sponsor and godparent.
Kai will become the first graduating class at Waterfront Academy in a moving up ceremony on May 21st.
“From my experience here at Waterfront Academy I gained a greater thirst for learning,” Paul said. “I am eager to head to high school to have homework and projects and to learn as much as I can from my new stage of life and my new home, Elizabeth Ann Seton High School.”
