Job Title: Front Desk Receptionist
Location: 924 Pennsylvania Ave. Washington, D.C.
Job Type: Full-Time/Part-Time (depending on the number of subjects taught)
Reports To: Principal and Assistant Director
Salary: $18/hr to $20/hr commensurate with experience.

Position Overview:
Waterfront Academy, a Spanish immersion Montessori school rooted in the Catholic tradition, is seeking a friendly, organized, and professional Front Desk Receptionist. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for our school, providing exceptional service to students, families, faculty, and visitors. This role is essential in supporting the daily operations of the school, ensuring smooth communication, and assisting with various administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities:

Answering Phones:

Manage incoming calls, direct them to the appropriate staff, and take messages as needed.

Provide accurate information about the school to callers and address general inquiries.

Responding to Emails:

Monitor and respond to the school’s general email inbox, ensuring timely and professional communication.

Forward emails to relevant staff members and follow up on any outstanding requests.

Supporting the Principal and Assistant Director:

Assist with scheduling, document preparation, and other administrative tasks as directed.

Help manage calendars, arrange meetings, and prepare materials for school events.

Faculty Support:

Provide basic support to faculty, including copying, distributing materials, and managing classroom supplies.

Assist with coordinating substitute teachers and ensuring smooth classroom operations.

Hands-On Learning:

Explore and incorporate hands-on learning opportunities within the classroom and through outdoor activities.

Design and facilitate experiential learning projects that allow students to engage with the curriculum in meaningful and practical ways.

Family and Student Support:

Serve as a welcoming presence for prospective and current families, answering questions and guiding them to the appropriate resources.

Assist students with basic needs, such as locating classrooms, retrieving forgotten items, and other support as needed.

General Administrative Tasks:

Maintain a tidy and organized front desk area.

Handle incoming and outgoing mail and packages.

Manage and order office supplies as necessary.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.

Fluency in Spanish is highly preferred.

Previous experience in a receptionist or administrative role, preferably in an educational setting.

Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Proficiency in basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace).

Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.

Working Conditions:

The position is primarily based at the front desk in the school’s main office.
