Job Title: Early Adolescent Montessori Teacher

Salary: $44k per school year (August 16 to June 15). Commensurate with experience.

Position Overview:
Waterfront Academy, a Spanish immersion Montessori school rooted in the Catholic tradition, seeks a versatile and experienced Early Adolescent Montessori Teacher. The ideal candidate will be capable of guiding students in at least two of the following areas: English, Spanish, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Biology, Chemistry, American History, World Civilizations, Finance and Entrepreneurship, Health, Art, Music, test-taking strategies, and/or Catechism. This position can be either full-time or part-time, depending on the number of subjects the teacher is able and willing to instruct. The role requires a collaborative educator who is organized, able to plan effectively, and committed to fostering the intellectual and personal growth of early adolescents.
Key Responsibilities:

Subject Area Instruction:
-
Provide instruction in at least two of the following areas: English, Spanish, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Biology, Chemistry, American History, World Civilizations, Finance and Entrepreneurship, Health, Art, Music, test-taking strategies, and/or Catechism.

Develop and deliver curriculum that meets the developmental needs of early adolescents, utilizing the Montessori approach to foster independent learning and critical thinking.

Collaboration with Early Adolescent Team:
-
Work closely with the Early Adolescent teaching team to ensure a cohesive and integrated educational experience for students.

Participate in regular team meetings to plan interdisciplinary projects, discuss student progress, and coordinate activities.

Organization and Planning:
-
Create detailed lesson plans that align with the school’s academic goals and the Montessori philosophy.

Organize and prepare materials and resources needed for effective instruction.

Student Observation and Assessment:
-
Observe and assess student progress regularly, using both formal and informal assessment methods.

Identify students' strengths and areas for improvement, making accommodations and modifications to support diverse learning needs.

Provide ongoing feedback to students and communicate their progress to parents and administration.

High School Application Assistance:

Guide and support students in the high school application process, including preparing application materials, writing recommendations, and helping students navigate their options.

Organize and facilitate information sessions and workshops related to high school admissions.

Student Development:

Foster a supportive and challenging learning environment that encourages early adolescents to develop independence, responsibility, and self-awareness.

Incorporate hands-on learning opportunities, field trips, and experiential projects to enhance the educational experience.

Community Engagement:

Support the school’s mission by actively participating in school events, parent meetings, and professional development opportunities.

Serve as a positive role model and mentor for students, promoting the values of the school and the broader community.

Qualifications:

Montessori teaching certification for Adolescent (12-18) levels (AMI/AMS or equivalent) is preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

Proficiency in at least two of the following subject areas: English, Spanish, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Biology, Chemistry, American History, World Civilizations, Finance and Entrepreneurship, Health, Art, Music, test-taking strategies, and/or Catechism.

Experience working with early adolescents in an educational setting.

Strong organizational and planning skills, with attention to detail.

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team.

Passion for fostering the intellectual and personal growth of early adolescents.

Working Conditions:
